A Little History
My name is Alishia Faber, and I am the founder of Sharpened Voices, a tutoring and academic coaching service built on the belief that every learner deserves structure, clarity, and support tailored to how they think and grow.
I am currently completing my A.S. in English/Communications/Professional Writing at Springfield Technical Community College, where I maintain a strong academic record and actively support students. I previously worked as a Peer Writing Tutor and currently support a course as a Supplemental Instruction Leader. These roles have shaped my understanding of how students learn — not in theory, but in real time, through real challenges, real questions, and real progress.
I have worked with learners ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade, as well as college students and adult learners, and I have direct experience supporting students with ADHD, Dyslexia, ASD, and executive-function challenges. As a neurodivergent learner myself and the parent of a neurodivergent child, I understand how critical it is for students to have a tutor who sees their strengths, respects their pace, and adapts instruction to the way their brain processes the world.

I started Sharpened Voices because I believe students deserve more than generic instruction — they deserve a space where they feel capable, understood, and encouraged to develop independence. Writing assistance and literacy have always been core areas of strength for me, and helping students sharpen those skills has become the heart of my work.
Whether I’m guiding a young learner through early reading foundations, helping a middle- or high-school student find clarity in their writing, or supporting a college student with complex assignments, my goal is consistent:
